Solid Waste and Recycling Services
Welcome to the Solid Waste Services Home Page
Mission Statement:
Provide cost effective and customer friendly solid waste and recycling collection services, and implement public education and outreach activities that promote reduction of waste and reuse of recyclable materials.
What We Do
The City of Arlington has an agreement with Waste Management Northwest to provide franchise garbage and recycling collection services. The City requires all citizens to subscribe to a waste collection service, even if they do not receive a City utility bill for water and/or sewer services.
The Utilities Division also contracts with a consultant to be a customer assistance liaison. They provide consumer education and encourage recycling to reduce the volume of solid waste the city generates.
We also work with Code Enforcement to offer annual or semi-annual household clean-up opportunities, including collection of recyclable and hazardous wastes.
County Transfer Station Changes Hours of Operation
Due to the economic downturn affecting the region and the resulting decline in waste received at County facilities, the Solid Waste Division has conducted an analysis of current service levels and hours of operation.
As a result, and in response to the decline in business, the following adjustments are being made and are scheduled to take effect JUNE 28, 2009.
