It is the mission of the Community Development Department to provide outstanding service to the Arlington community and facilitate future growth in a customer friendly manner.
The Community Development Department is composed of three divisions offering several services:
Ø Permit Assistance Center
Ø Community Resources Division
Ø Building Division
Ø Planning Division
Ø Code Enforcement
Ø Economic Development
One of the Department’s primary roles is to guide development so that it is consistent with the community’s vision as expressed in the Comprehensive Plan.
The Permit Assistance Center is responsible for assisting customers during the permitting process.
The Community Resources Division is responsible for providing a means for citizens to network with various groups and agencies providing services to our community, as well as addressing natural resource issues such as the protection of streams, groundwater, fish, geology, soils, vegetation, air quality, and pollution levels as mandated by state and federal law.
The Building Division is responsible for reviewing plans and doing field inspections for building permits to ensure compliance with local and state mandated regulations related to building construction, maintenance, rehabilitation and accessibility.
The Planning Division is responsible for all land use planning and permitting, SEPA environmental review and interlocal growth management studies for the City.
The Code Enforcement Officer works with requests from citizens to ensure public health, safety, and welfare are not compromised by violations of municipal ordinances.
The Economic Development Manager is responsible for implementing the Economic Development Plan, including assisting with public development projects, acting as a liaison with businesses wishing to locate in Arlington, and promoting Arlington as a place in which to do business.
