History:  The Arlington Police Department was formed just over a hundred years ago and remained a very small police department until the 1970's.  Then, a steady growth of population, businesses and later annexations of established neighborhoods created the size that it is today.  Arlington is the hub of commercial, retail, residential and aviation activity in the north part of Snohomish County.  Today: The Police Department is a growing team of dedicated employees and is part of a much larger city team of service providers to the community.  The Police Department has active partnerships with other police agencies including the cities of Marysville and Lake Stevens.

Today, the department employs 27 officers, 3 reserve officers, and 6 civilian staff.  The Police Department uses 911 call answering services, call dispatching, jail services, and municipal court services from other agencies in a regional service concept.  Crime:  Arlington has a relatively high crime rate because of a variety of factors and much of it can be prevented by simply taking common sense precautions to safeguard your property.  Locking doors, not leaving cars running while unattended, protecting your privacy of credit card numbers and personal identity information, and taking action by reporting suspicious activity prevent crime from happening to you.
